A report from the Grant County Treasurer’s Office showed that the county’s one-cent sales tax exceeded $3 million last year.
According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Grant County Treasurer Tim Stuckey said the collection figure for 2024 was $3,116,469, continuing a long string of tax revenue growth.
County Judge Randy Pruitt was quoted as saying the way the tax revenue is divided up benefits more than the general fund.
He said some of the money goes to the sherif’s office, some to 911, and to the general fund.
The sales tax began in 2003 and collected nearly $771,000. Since then, the increases have been fairly steady, Stuckey said.
