A proposed ordinance being considered by the Grant County Quorum Court would allow law enforcement officers to issue citations for misdemeanor traffic offenses tht would not appear on state driving records.

According to the Sheridan Headlight newspaper, Grant County Sheriff Pete Roberts said fines collected from the Immoderate Driving Ordinance would be allocated to law enforcement training and equipment.

Some of the violations covered by the ordinance include cutting across private property to avoid stop signs or traffic signals, driving in a manner that causes skidding, spinning or sliding, allowing passengers to ride in an unsafe manner, following too close or colliding with parked vehicles, objects or people near public roadways and exceeding posted speed limits.
