Golden Lions Athletics Continue to Roar as NCAA Releases Latest GSR Data
INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The athletic programs at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) continue to rank among the best in the country according to the NCAA’s Division I annual Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The Golden Lions achieved an impressive 83 percent GSR based on 14 measured sports, with several teams exceeding 90 percent. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the athletic program has finished with a GSR above 80 percent, placing UAPB among the top two HBCUs nationally in this category.
“Our consistently strong GSR is a testament to the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff in prioritizing academic success and graduation at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff,” said Chris Robinson, UAPB’s Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics. “Our student-athletes strive for excellence not only in the classroom and in competition, but also in life. We will continue to provide them with the support and resources they need as they become Golden Lions for Life (G4L).”
A complete and searchable Graduation Rates Report is available online at NCAA.org.
The GSR measures the percentage of scholarship student-athletes who earn a degree within six years, reflecting graduation outcomes for those who entered college in the fall of 2017. The NCAA developed the GSR to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes, taking transfer students into account, unlike the federal graduation rate.
