The annual National Gun Violence Awareness Day is Friday and Pine Bluff’s Group Violence Intervention program is sponsoring a special event at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
GVI Director Kevin Crumpton talked about the event when he appeared on Talk Back Live with Floyd Donald.
One of the reasons GVI was founded was the number of young people who were shot and killed in Pine Bluff, particularly last summer.
Crumpton said it had been 144 days since the last homicide involving a juvenile victim occurred (Jan. 12) and 50 days since the last homicide involving an adult victim (April 15).
