Law enforcement in Desha County has announced the formation of a group to closely monitor registered sex offenders.
According to the McGehee-Dermott Times News, Desha County Sheriff Mitch Grant said the Desha County Sex Offender Compliance Team will include the McGehee and Dumas Police Departments.
The newspaper reported that the program will “promote enforcement of all sex offender law” by conducting compliance checks, verifying information, notifying offenders of ability to participate in certain activities offender’s residence limitations near schools, government owned pools and parks and all other state laws related to the topic.
He said the group will personally conduct checks on Level 3 and 4 offenders, the most serious offenders on the registry.
