According to UALR’s Economic Development Institute, the population of Cleveland County is declining.

The Cleveland County Herald reported that between July 1, 2023 and July 1, 2024, the county lost 0.03 percent of its population (19 PEOPLE)

In a previous report, the county saw a 1.2 percent decline between July 2022 and July 2023 (89 residents).

Populations of Kingsland and Rison reportedly declined as well. Rison’s estimated population in 2023 was 939, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

That figure was down from 2020 when the population was reported as 967. Ten years earlier, in 2010, Rison’s population was 1,344.

The population of Kingsland in 2023 was estimated as 336, while in 2020, the population was 404, meaning the city lost an estimated 68 residents during that time period.
