City of Pine Bluff to open warming center

In response to the dangerously cold temperatures and with a steadfast commitment to community health and safety, the City of Pine Bluff is announcing the opening of a warming center. This initiative underscores the City’s dedication to protecting vulnerable populations during extreme weather conditions.

In partnership with DePaul USA, The City’s warming center will be stationed at the Opportunity House (Old First Ward School), located at 1305 East 6th Avenue. Beginning Monday, February 17, 2025, the center will operate from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM until Saturday morning, February 22, 2025.

The warming center will offer:

• A heated, secure indoor space

• Sleeping accommodations available on a first-come, first-serve basis

• Essential amenities

The City encourages residents to share this information with those in need of the warming center’s services.

To strengthen this initiative, the City of Pine Bluff is seeking support from community organizations, faith-based groups, and volunteers. Contributions such as blankets, warm clothing, and non-perishable food items are urgently needed and can be delivered to the Opportunity House.
