Pine Bluff has been a city in decline for several years and one of the areas hit the hardest with decline is the Dollarway area. While Dollarway Road has a high traffic area business are continually moving away from the area.
Dane Reed, owner of B & D Automotive on Dollarway Road, joined Greg and Will Friday morning to discuss some of the issues business owners are facing in the area, with crime being one of the major factors.
Thursday morning Reed received a phone call from a neighboring business, Matt’s Wholesale, telling him someone had attempted to set gas tanks of cars in their parking lot on fire the night before. After investigating Reed discovered someone had attempted to set his waste oil container on fire as well.
Reed said he later found out the same woman attempted to start fires at a gas station in the area as well as a trailer full of tires at Wholesale Tire.
Reed said that the fires could have been detrimental to local businesses had they been successful.
