Black Pilots of America back in Pine Bluff hosting Operation Skyhook

The Chamber of Commerce along with the city of Pine Bluff partnered with the Black Pilots of America (BPA) to host their weekend Operation Skyhook annual fly-in and flying competition two years after the pandemic. The opening ceremony for the event took place Friday at the Pine Bluff Regional Airport Grider Field featuring presentations from city officials such as Mayor Shirley Washington, Police Chief Lloyd Franklin Sr., Fire Chief Shauwn Howell, Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr., and State Representative Ken Ferguson amongst others.

Mayor Washington was one of the first speakers and presented a special proclamation to the BPA members.

Deltaplex News spoke to Fred Lewis, Chairman of BPA who gave more background information about BPA.

Lewis also explained more about what Operation Skyhook is and the events featured.

One of the missions of the BPA is to help educate the youth on aviation and Lewis elaborated more about that.
