The Pine Bluff Police Department and Pine Bluff Parks and Recreation announced access to city-owned parks would be limited until further notice.

The decision has been made in response to recent threats of violence on social media, the PBPD said in a Facebook post Tuesday evening. Police say, effective immediately, there is “zero tolerance” for large gatherings at city parks, and park curfews and all applicable city ordinances will be strictly enforced.

Police say the move is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors. The nature of the threats were not detailed, but the announcement was made two days after a shooting at a Conway park killed two people and injured nine.

“The safety of the public remains our number one concern,” the PBPD stated. “We are committed to taking all necessary steps to maintain peace and protect our community.”

Police urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to (870) 541-5300.
