A $5,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of pointing a knife at his girlfriend and cutting her hand.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Robin Young, 46, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Sgt. Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Lisa McGriff said on Friday just after 3 a.m., police responded to 2808 W. 30th Ave., in response to a reported armed disturbance.

The female victim said her boyfriend, Robin Young, had attempted to cut her with a knife and struck her on the hand with a broom. She said the two had been in a verbal altercation that turned physical.

McGriff said Young agreed to give a statement and said he and the victim had been together for 15 years.

Court records showed that Young has prior convictions for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and assault on a family or household member.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court June 11.
