A $25,000 cash only bond was set Friday for a Little Rock man accused of stealing a truck and then leading police on a chase on the west side of the city.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Curtis Ashcraft, 35, with felony fleeing, theft of property and criminal mischief.

Reading from an affidavit from Detective Sgt. Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said on Wednesday at about 8 .a.m., Lt. Billy Dixon was patrolling near 13th and Oakwood Road when he saw a white Chevrolet pickup that had been reported stolen. Dixon attempted to make a traffic stop at 9th and Oakwood Road but the driver later identified as Ashcraft fled and a pursuit ensued reaching speeds of 55 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour residential area.

West said several law enforcement agencies then began searching for Ashcraft.

Ashcraft is currently on probation in Jefferson County and parole in Craighead County and West said he has multiple prior convictions in Jefferson, Cleveland, Craighead and Grant Counties and an active warrant in Tennessee.

He was told to come back to court Aug. 16.
