A $2,500 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man accused of stealing hemp from a tobacco store.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Verdell Canser, 29, with theft of property.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson, Deputy Prosecutor Katelyn Phillips explained what Canser is accused of.

Canser, who Phillips said has no prior felony convictions, was told to come back to court Oct. 1.
