A $15,000 bond was set Thursday for a Jefferson County man currently on parole on drug related charges.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jeffery Hooks with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
Reading from an affidavit by White Hall Police Investigator Charles Treadway, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Treadway was patrolling north on Holiday Lane when he saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe and a check of the license plate number showed that it had been reported stolen in Pine Bluff.
The Tahoe was being driven by Hooks.
Akel said a search was conducted and officers found a grey case inside the backpack which was on the front passenger seat.
Hooks has prior felony convictions for residential burglary, theft of property and felon in possession of a firearm. He was told to come back to court July 19.
