A $150,000 bond was set Monday for a Pine Bluff man accused of attempting to rape a woman Saturday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Darryl Tharp, 63, with criminal attempt rape, aggravated assault and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Ryan Edwards, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said on Nov. 23, police were sent to a reported disturbance.

When the officer walked around the house, Alexander said he saw narcotics on the table and a Taurus handgun and when he ran Tharp through the Arkansas and National Criminal data bases, learned that Tharp was a convicted felon.

Tharp was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Jan. 14.
