A Pine Bluff man was arrested Friday after he allegedly choked his mother during an altercation.
William Smart, 39, was taken into custody after police were sent to a residence on West 46th Avenue in response to a reported domestic disturbance involving Smart and his parents.
Reading from an affidavit from Detective Dante Nicholson, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West explained the allegation during a court hearing Monday.
West said Sgt. Howard advised Smart to put his hands behind his back and Smart refused to do it.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond of $15,000 after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with second-degree battery and resisting arrest. He was told to come back to court Aug. 5.
