A $10,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of firing a gun on the parking lot of Jefferson Regional Hospital on June 16.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge David Strickland, 24, with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said the allegation is based on an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin.

Akel said Strickland turned himself in to police Monday and when interviewed said he did not point the gun at the female but just shot in the air.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court July 25.

Strickland also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license, failure to appear in district court and failure to pay fines and fees and was sentenced to 24 days in jail. He pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor fleeing and was given a court date.
