A $10,000 bond was set Friday for a White Hall man previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic battery after he was accused of punching his girlfriend Wednesday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Martavous Dixson, 27, with second offense third-degree domestic battery, a felony.

Reading from an affidavit from Sheriff’s Investigator Kristen Pennington, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said on Wednesday at about 10:30, Pennington was contacted by a sheriff’s deputy reference to a welfare concern.

Reed said Dixson has a prior domestic battery conviction from Jefferson County.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Feb. 10.
