Second suspect being sought in connection to recent homicide

The Pine Bluff Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a second suspect wanted in connection with a recent homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, April 18, 2025.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of W. 30th Avenue after receiving a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, officers located Asa Stewart, who was found deceased at the scene from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Detectives with the Pine Bluff Police Department Major Crimes Unit responded and began a comprehensive investigation.

Through the collection of physical evidence, witness interviews, and review of surveillance footage, detectives quickly identified Quan Turner as a suspect. On April 22, Turner was located and apprehended by Pine Bluff detectives without incident. He has been formally charged with Capital Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons. He is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

As the investigation progressed, detectives identified a second suspect believed to have been involved in the planning or execution of the homicide. That individual has been identified as Ka’Juan Madkins, a 22-year-old black male. Madkins is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address is in the 2300 block of Pine Hill Drive in Pine Bluff.

Madkins is considered armed and dangerous. In addition to being wanted in connection with the homicide of Asa Stewart, he has active felony warrants out of Lincoln County for Aggravated RobberyTerroristic Threatening in the First Degree, and Aggravated Residential Burglary. Madkins is also a suspect in a separate, ongoing robbery investigation within the city of Pine Bluff.

Anyone who sees Madkins or has information regarding his location is urged not to approach him and instead contact the Pine Bluff Police Department immediately.
