With just three items on the agenda, two ordinances and a resolution, the Pine Bluff City Council was able to wrap up their regular meeting Monday in less than 30 minutes.
One of those ordinances, which was read a second time, will allow the city to pay its bills electronically rather than by a paper check.
City Clerk Janice Roberts talked about the ordinance with Deltaplex News.
Roberts said the city is currently not paying bills electronically but has received some inquiries from vendors.
The ordinance will be read for the third and final time at the council’s first meeting in May.
Also at that meeting, an ordinance closing a part of the East-West alley located in the 1300 block of East Harding Avenue between Pennsylvania and Ohio Streets will be read for a third time. That alley is located at Carpenter’s Produce and Fish Market.
The council also adopted a resolution making adjustments to the 2025 Municipal Budget which totaled $54,308,310.36. Those adjustments included $350,000 for cameras for the Police Department, $295,221.02 for the Fire Department Training Facility and $400,000 for the Opportunity House.
