UPDATE: Following Wednesday’s outbreak of wildfires nearly every county in the Deltaplex is now under a burn ban.
Counties included are:
Arkansas County
Bradley County
Cleveland County
Dallas County
Grant County
Jefferson County
Lincoln County
Lonoke County
Pulaski County
Saline County.
Desha County and Drew County are the only two counties in the Deltaplex area that are not under a burn ban as of 8:50 a.m. Thursday morning.
Wildfires broke out in numerous Deltaplex area counties on Wednesday due to conditions being right for fires combined with high winds. Despite burn bans being issued in several counties several citizens still decided to burn, leading to several fires getting out of control.
DO NOT BURN DURING THESE CONDITIONS.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Burn bans have been issued for Jefferson and Lincoln Counties due to wildfire conditions increasing.
All city municipalities are included in the burn bans for both Jefferson and Lincoln Counties.
Jefferson County Emergency Ordinance 2000-66 was established to authorize the county judge to declare a ban on open burning under certain conditions and circumstances in unincorporated areas of Jefferson County and providing for penalties for violations of said burn ban.
Due to current weather conditions and the risk for wildfires, a BURN BAN has been issued for all of Jefferson County including the citizens of Pine Bluff, White Hall, Humphrey, Sherrill, Altheimer, Wabbaseka, and Redfield.
This BURN BAN is in effect immediately, March 19, 2025, and will continue until further notice pursuant to Jefferson County Court Order No. 2025-14.
