Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) regrets to announce the cancellation of its 2024-2025 softball season. After extensive review and consideration, it has become clear that this decision is necessary for the safety and well-being of our student-athletes due to the current limitations in team roster size.
The decision follows a coaching change in the fall of 2024 and the subsequent loss of four players over the holiday break. These changes have left the team with insufficient numbers to field a competitive squad for the upcoming season. SEARK is fully committed to ensuring that the health and safety of its athletes remain the top priority.
“As an institution, we are dedicated to providing our athletes with the resources and support needed for success on and off the field,” said Chad Kline, Athletic Director, of Southeast Arkansas College. “While this decision was difficult, we believe it is the most responsible course of action as we focus on rebuilding the team for future seasons.”
In the coming months, SEARK Softball coaches Jeffery Hughes and Steve Smith will work diligently to recruit and assemble a full roster, with the goal of returning to competitive play in the near future. The college understands the potential disruption this may cause to student-athletes, families, and the community, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
“We appreciate the support of our athletes, fans, and supporters as we take this important step in ensuring a strong and sustainable future for SEARK Softball,” Kline added.
