
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Dining Services is thrilled to announce that Chef Paula Mayo, a distinguished UAPB Dining Services team member, has achieved remarkable success by winning four prestigious Aramark Culinary Chef Tournaments. Her exceptional culinary skills and innovative approach earned her a coveted spot in the Feb. 2025 finals, where she placed second.

Chef Mayo’s journey to the finals has been a testament to her determination and hard work. Competing against some of the finest chefs in the region, she has consistently impressed judges with her creativity, precision, and dedication to the culinary arts. Her winning dishes, which showcase a blend of traditional flavors and modern techniques, have set a new standard in the culinary world.
“I was incredibly honored and excited to represent UAPB Dining in the finals,” said Chef Mayo. “Competing and winning in these tournaments has been a dream come true, and I am grateful for the support of my colleagues and the university community. I enjoy showcasing my skills on a larger stage and bringing home the title.”
According to a press release, Mayo was one of thirty-five skilled culinarians who competed in a high-stakes culinary competition this past fall and spring led by South Region Culinary Director Chef Ben Hernandez in collaboration with marketing, operations, and culinary leaders of the South.
UAPB Aramark shared that the competition concluded on Friday, February 28, at the University of Mississippi, where the final showdown took place. Chef Quentin Tacker of the University of Dallas faced off against Chef Paula Mayo from the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in an intense battle of culinary prowess. Both chefs were tasked with creating a signature Stir-Fry. Competitors went head-to-head at a 5-foot round grill that challenged their creativity and skill.
