$500,000 bond set for man accused of murder in Drew County

A $500,000 bond has been given to a Drew County man in relation to a murder that took place on Feb. 13.

According to a press release from the Drew County Sheriff’s Office a 911 call was received at 8:14 p.m. on Feb. 13 in reference to a shooting incident on Avery Road. A suspect was developed prior to the arrival of Deputies, leading to the arrest of Matthew Austin Lunsford at the scene.

Lunsford with charged with First Degree Murder and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor after 20-year-old Ryan Parker of Monticello was killed. According to law enforcement the murder took place in front of a child, leading to enhanced penalties for Offenses Committed in the Presence of a Child.

Austin remains in custody at this time.
