UPDATE: Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services has released the following press release on Monday morning’s fatal house fire:
Fire personnel was dispatched to 1020 S. Pennsylvania for a residential house fire. Upon arrival fire personnel advised the house was fully involved with heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the house.
The residents of the house were outside and informed fire crews that one person was still inside.
Fire crews began emergency operations to extinguish the fire and perform search and rescue.
Fire crews were able to the locate the victim in a front bedroom. The victim had succumbed to injuries from the fire, and the Jefferson County Corner’s office was called to the scene.
The fire appeared to have started in the bedroom where the victim was found and appears to have started from a space heater.
This fire remains under investigation

Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services is in the early stages of a fatal fire investigation following a house fire in the 1000 block of South Pennsylvania early Monday morning.
Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley confirmed to Deltaplex News that one person was found dead due to the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
