
At approximately 6:00 AM Investigators with the Tri-County Drug Task Force (TCDTF) and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested Miakia Ellis, at the Dub Brassell Adult Detention Center (DBADC) shortly after she arrived for her shift as a jailer in the facility.
Ellis was the subject of a 3-week investigation conducted by TCDTF and CID regarding contraband being brought into the facility.
She was searched upon entering the facility and was found to be in possession of approximately 115 grams of suspected marijuana, smoking papers, lighters, a phone charger and cell phones.
Ellis was booked into the DBADC on the charges of A.C.A. 5-64-401 Criminal Conspiracy, A.C.A. 5-54-119 Furnishing Prohibited Articles, A.C.A. 5-64-436 Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule 6 with Purpose to Deliver, and A.C.A. 5-64-404 Criminal Use of a Communication Device.
She will appear before court on Monday morning for a probable cause hearing regarding the charges.

“This arrest, like others in the past, speaks to our commitment to the public in pursuing charges against those who threaten the security of our detention facilities. We have a zero-tolerance policy against contraband, and we will seek the maximum penalty possible for those who choose to ignore it and violate the law. The JCSO remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the operation of our detention center and will continue to take decisive action against any violations of our policies or the law”
