The Woodlawn School District plans to ask for a millage increase next year.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, the district will seek a 2-mill hike which is expected to generate $68,226 a year.
The newspaper reported that the district wants to use the money to build a new career technology center, expand the cafeteria, and other things.
Each additional mill will cost taxpayers $20 per $100,000 in assessed value, meaning an increase of $40 annually for property with that value.
The State has notified the district that it has been accepted into the partnership program which will pay a part of the total costs of the construction, but the district won’t know until May of 2025 if they will be getting any money since all state projects are trying to pull funds from one pot of money.
