A Dumas wrecker driver was killed Thursday night while he was preparing to load a vehicle onto a rollback wrecker.
According to a preliminary report, James Jones,30, was operating the wrecker which was on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 65 at Mitchellville when he was hit by a 2015 Chevrolet that had been southbound on the highway.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident was reported at 8:20 p.m. and the death was the 477th so far this year on the states highways.
