Drug and alcohol addiction is a crisis that has plagued many areas of America, to include Jefferson County, and people are looking for ways to get help battling their addictions on a daily basis. For those seeking help in Jefferson County and surrounding areas a Christian faith based rehabilitation center has made great strides helping men rehabilitate and get back onto their feet.
Common Ground Ministries is a refuge for men aged 18 or older to heal spiritually, mentally, and physically. The program require a six month stay, at minimum, in order to graduate.
Common Ground Ministries founded Paul Benarbachian spoke with Deltaplex News to share how he felt led to start the ministry after battling his own addictions.
Benarbachian said he believes he received a calling to build the ministry while at a men’s retreat, then he went to work to make it happen.
The ministry opened full time 14 months ago and has enjoyed a 98% success rate of graduating men through the program during that time. Benarbachian gives credit to God for that.
While Benarbachian is from California and splits his time between there and the ministry in Jefferson County he does have a local man in charge of day to day operations. Matthew Webb decided to volunteer his time after overcoming his own battle with addiction.
Once he got clean one of the first people Webb was able to reach was his own father.
There are open beds at Common Ground Ministries right now. Benarbachian shared what the first steps are for any man that would like to enter their program.
