A $5,000 cash only bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of breaking into two vehicles.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Sherman Johnson, 26, with two counts of breaking or entering.

Deputy Prosecutor Joe West asked for the cash only bond for Johnson because he has a pending charge of breaking or entering. The hearing was held without Johnson who refused to come out of his cell.

West explained the first of two allegations to the court, based on an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin.

On Monday, Johnson was accused of breaking into a second parked vehicle and taking a cell phone charger. He ran after being seen in the vehicle and was taken into custody a short time later.

Johnson was ordered to come back to court Nov. 6.
