Dr Keith McGehee to lead Watson Chapel School district

The Watson Chapel School District on Monday approved the hiring of Dr. Keith McGehee as the new School District Superintendent during a brief regular meeting of the board.

McGehee, who has been the Superintendent of the Helena-West Helena School District for the past two years, replaces current Superintendent Tom Wilson, who is retiring.

He has also worked in leadership positions in the Little Rock and North Little Rock School Districts before taking the job in Helena and he told Deltaplex News why he decided to accept the position at Watson Chapel.

Board President Goldie Whitaker talked to Deltaplex News about the decision to hire McGehee.

Wilson, who was chairing his final meeting, briefed the board on construction on the new high school and said he and McGehee would be meeting with the construction supervisor Tuesday morning.

McGehee was asked what he brings to the district, and he answered this way.
