UAPB Track & Field’s Caleb Snowden Headed to USA Olympic Trials Finals
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff track and field star Caleb Snowden continues to excel in the high jump competition, as he cleared 7″2 1/4 on his final jump to advance to the 2024 Olympic Trials final.
Snowden finished third at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, clearing a height of 7’3 3/4, which also earned him First Team All-America honors. The Lehigh Florida native posted a career best leap of 2.27 meters (7″5 1/2ft) at the Memphis Tigers Invitational earlier this season.
Snowden continues his historic career, being the first athlete from UAPB to compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team since 1968, when Earl Goldman competed in the 800m run. Harold Francis and Henry Smothers also competed that year in the 400m dash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles, CA.
The senior leaper is the program’s first student-athlete to be named an All-American since joining the NCAA, and the first high jumper from a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to secure a top-three position in both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the same year.
The 2024 Olympic Trials High Jump finals is set for Sunday, June 30th at 5:30p.m. on NBC.
