Southeast Arkansas College has named Matt Prysock as its new softball coach.
He replaces Belinda Hendrix, who left for a job at Garden City Community College in Kansas.
Prysock was formerly an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain.
“I am honored and excited to join the SEARK Sharks as the head softball coach,” he said in a press release. ‘I am committed to building a program that not only achieves success on the field but also prepares the student athletes for their future endeavors. I look forward to working with the talented players and dedicated staff at SEARK.”
The softball program at SEARK was forced to shut down its initial season this spring after injuries reduced the squad to just nine players. The team finished with a 4-13 record.
SEARK will field men’s and women’s basketball teams this fall, as well as adding men’s and women’s golf.
Rieke Stewart has been hired to coach both golf teams and SEARK Athletic Director Chad Kline will coach basketball.
The teams will compete in NJCAA Division II.
