A $5,000 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of hitting his elderly father during an altercation Sunday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Clyde Johnson Jr., 32, with second-degree domestic battery.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said at 10:17 p.m. Sunday, police were sent to a residence on Miramar Drive in response to a reported domestic disturbance.

Akel said a criminal history check showed Johnson has no prior convictions or pending charges.

He was ordered to have no contact with his father until the case is settled and told to come back to court June 20.
