Golden Lions’ Del La Cruz One of the Nation’s Top Hitters

Pine Bluff- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s Edwin De La Cruz (6’2 210lbs) continues to rip up the college baseball world as he has led the nation in hitting for majority of the season. The Ridgewood, NY native is currently hitting .431 which is fourth best in all of collegiate D1 baseball.

The Golden Lions’ catcher leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in batting average (.453 includes all games), first in on base percentage (.547), and third in slugging percentage (.633). De La Cruz had a season high 4 hits against Southern University including 2 doubles on April 5th. The following day, the senior scored a season high 3 runs leading the Golden Lions to a 17-8 win over the Jaguars. Edwin had a season high 4 RBI’s on February 23rd, and is a perfect 10 for 10 in stolen bases on the year. The Golden Lions are currently hitting .298 as a team which is 4th best in the SWAC.
