$50,000 bond set for man accused of threatening wife and daughter

A $50,000 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man accused of threatening his estranged wife and daughter on Jan. 11.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Anthony Compton 39, with aggravated assault on a family or household member, terroristic threatening and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During the court hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Shana Alexander said police were sent to a residence on West 12th Avenue in response to a reported protection order violation.

Detective Jason Boykin reported the victims told police Compton kicked in the door of the house and came into a bedroom where his wife and daughter had taken refuge. He allegedly struck his wife and when the daughter tried to intervene, pointed a handgun at her and told her he was going to shoot her.

Compton turned himself in and when questioned, denied having a gun.

Alexander said Compton has more than four prior felony convictions, the most recent in 2017.
