
Pine Bluff voters will return to the polls in November as supporters of the five-eights cent sales tax, commonly called the Go Forward tax make another attempt to extend it for another seven years. That tax is currently scheduled to come off the books next year.
At the same time, voters will also consider a three-eights cent permanent tax increase to support public safety. That tax failed the last time by 20 votes.
On Thursday, Police Chief Denise Richardson, who was an outspoken supporter of the initial tax proposal was asked if the current wording of the tax proposal has been changed to reflect complaints some had about the wording the first time around.
Richardson appeared on the Oldies 1013 morning show and responded this way.
Richardson was then asked if she expected the rank and file of her department to be more supportive of the tax than they were the first time, particularly since some members openly voiced opposition to it.
Morning show host Greg Horne who was the driving force in putting the issues back on the ballot this time and she answered this way.
