Jefferson County Revenue shows sharp increase compared to the same period a year ago

Through the first six months of this year, Jefferson County revenue has shown a sharp increase compared to the same period a year ago, but county spending is also up for the period.

County Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin broke down the numbers for Deltaplex News.

Specifically, revenue collected by the county was close to $101 million through June 30, compared to $53.6 million in 2022. At the same time, county spending was at $96.5 million compared to 44.5 million in 2022.

The County General fund had nearly $85,000 available for expenditure, while the maintenance and operation fund listed almost $2 million available, and the Public Safety sales tax fund contained $3.275 million.

Casino revenue totaled $165,000 for the month.
