On Monday, the White Hall School District named Jason Mitchell as the interim head football coach for this year, replacing Coach Ryan Mallett who died while swimming in Florida last month.
On Wednesday, White Hall School District Superintendent Gary Williams was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and was asked what Williams saw in Mitchell to make him decide Mitchell was the guy to lead the team.
Morning show host Greg Horne told Williams that while everybody wants to win, he sees Mitchell’s roal this year as mentoring and guiding the young men on the team and that’s more important than wins and losses.
Prior to coaching at White Hall, Mitchell was a coach in the Pine Bluff School District under former White Hall head coach Bobby Bolding.
Horne also asked about the other coaches at the school, saying that there is currently “big turmoil” for the program with the death of Mallett.
