A $5,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of choking a doctor who was treating the man at the hospital.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge David Heartsfield, 63, with second-degree battery.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Jason Boykin, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said on Monday at 6:36 p.m., police were sent to the Emergency Room at Jefferson Regional Hospital in response to a reported battery.
The affidavit went on to say that Boykin spoke to Mr. Heartsfield.
Heartsfield was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court May 21.
