A $50,000 bond was set Tuesday for a White Hall man previously convicted of a felony after a gun was found in the vehicle the man was driving.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Roderick Neal, 44, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Reading from an affidavit by White Hall Police Officer Christian Carroll, Deputy Prosecutor Brittaney Akel said White Hall officers were on patrol at about 10 p.m. on Sheridan Road when they saw a Yukon that was westbound, and the license plate light was out.

After seeing the vehicle cross the center lane, officers activated their emergency lights, and a traffic stop was initiated.

Akel said Neal has prior convictions for residential burglary, breaking or entering, theft of property and possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver dating back to 2001.

He was told to come back to court Aug. 12 and said he would hire his own attorney.
