A $5,000 cash only bond was set Friday for a Pine Bluff man currently on parole, who was arrested after a gun was found in the vehicle the man was driving.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Frederick Tate, 37, with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Reading from an affidavit by Sheriff’s Investigator Michael Musgrove, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said Thursday evening, a deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Tate because it did not have a license plate. The vehicle contained Tate and a passenger and a check with the Arkansas Crime Information Center showed that Tate was a convicted felon and there was an active warrant for his arrest.
West said Tate has prior felony convictions in Jefferson and Cleveland Counties and a pending felony case in 5th Division.
Tate was told to come back to court Aug. 30.
