A $250,000 bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man accused of firing multiple shots on the parking lot of the Big Red Travel Plaza on Sunday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Michael Thomas, 41, with 16 counts of committing a terroristic act and one count of first-degree battery. Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said one of the counts of terroristic act is a Class Y felony because of an injury sustained by the victim.

Reed said at 8 p.m. Sunday, White Hall Police responded to the Big Red Travel Plaza at 8110 Sheridan Road in response to a reported shooting and reading from an affidavit by Investigator Charles Treadway, explained the allegations against Thomas.

After Bridgforth told Thomas not to speak, Reed continued.

Thomas was ordered to have no contact with the victim and told to come back to court Sept. 16.
