12 acres burned in South Jefferson County wildfire

UPDATE 12:45 PM: Fire officials tell Deltaplex News that 12 acres of land have burned in the wildfire located off of Hudson Cemetery Road.

No homes or other property were harmed, nor were they in danger of the fire.

Crews have been cutting fire lanes for over an hour and the fire has not jumped outside of those lanes, and is believed to be contained at this time.

The Watson Chapel Fire Department, The Y Fire Department from Cleveland County, and the Arkansas Forestry Commission all responded to the blaze.


UPDATE: Forestry is on the scene with a plow and is working to cut the fire off.

Fire officials tell Deltaplex News that they battled a small fire at the same location on Wednesday night, and today’s wind gusts are believed the be responsible for it reigniting.

Officials tell Deltaplex News that approximately eight acres of land have burned at this time.

The Watson Chapel Fire Department has been dispatched to a wildfire in the area of Hudson Cemetery Road and Highway 79.

Deltaplex News has been told the forestry commission has a plane in the air and a plow on the way to help combat the fire.
