A $100,000 bond was set Friday for a Jefferson County man on drug and weapon allegations.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Aaron Neal with possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Reading from a probable cause affidavit from White Hall Police Investigator Clayton Cantrell, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said a White Hall Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a grey pickup truck driven by Neal who was not wearing a seat belt. A records check showed that there was an active warrant for Neal’s arrest from Jefferson County.
King said when Neal was questioned, he allegedly admitted that the drugs and gun were his.
The active warrant for Neal charges that on Aug. 18, 2021, he had in his possession a nine-millimeter handgun and had previously been convicted of a felony.
Neal said he would hire his own attorney on all the allegations.
